There is a definite vitality buzz in the air for 2006! As part of their "Drive towards Diversification," Micron, the states largest employer is planning to add 900 new jobs. In addition, positions will consist of senior level to upper management, accounting and HR positions. Another major conglomerate and nationally known grocery store chain, Albertsons has chosen to keep its headquarters right here in the valley. As if that weren't enough, the housing and development markets saw unprecedented growth in 2005 and continued gains are predicted for the New Year. Evidence of this growth can be seen all over the Treasure Valley! Owners of the RiverWalk Development Firm have signed several leases and are planning a third building. RiverWalk I, a 15,300 square foot building occupies the southwest corner of Shoreline and Americana Blvd in Boise and RiverWalk II, is a 19,125 square foot structure. RiverWalk III, the third and final site has approval for a Class-A office building and is anticipated to be 18,000 square feet. The Boise based Primary Health, which operates from offices in the Washington Group Plaza and provides health insurance to approximately 11,500 is planning to expand. "We are contemplating expansion in other areas in 2006," said CEO Elwood Kleaver. The company hasn't yet identified locations, but plans up to two new offices with five to ten new employees each. And yes, there is more, the U.S. Census Bureau recently reported Idaho as being the 3rd fastest growing state in the nation. Idaho experienced a 2.4% recent gain in population. "Our strong economy continues to attract people and investment into the state," said Roger Madsen from the Idaho Dept of Commerce and Labor. What a great way to kick off 2006!
