Community Festivals, Concerts and Performing Arts Events

Alive After Five is the place to be on summer Wednesday evenings from 4:30 to 8:00 pm. You'll find tasty food, drinks and of course, terrific music! Don't miss Alive After Five, every Wednesday at The Grove in the heart of downtown Boise between 8th and 9th streets. Rock out this summer every Thursday at the Boise Spectrum! Enjoy music, food and games for everyone from 6 to 9pm. The Boise Spectrum is located at 7702 W. Overland Rd. in Boise. Bring a picnic and celebrate 30 years of professional theatre this summer in a wonderful setting, the Idaho Shakespeare Festival kicked off its summer season on June 2nd and will run thru Saturday, September 30th. If a little jazz and wine is what you're seeking then be sure to hit Jazz at the Winery any Sunday from now until October. All takes place at the beautiful St. Chapelle Winery in Caldwell. For details visit www.stechapelle.com or call 453-7830. Broadway's best loved musicals will be performed under the stars in beautiful Garden Valley this summer at Idaho's Starlight Mountain Theatre. Beautiful Garden Valley seems like a world away, but is only a half an hour from Boise. For play information call 462-5523 or visit www.starlightmountaintheatre.com. If you're looking to escape that hot summer sun, then head on into the Boise Art Museum and take a look at the Frank Lloyd Wright and The Beautiful House exhibit. The museum will hold this unique exhibit from now until Sunday, October 22nd. On display will be over 100 original pieces including, furniture, metal works, textiles and accessories. For more information call 345-8330. The beautiful Winery at Eagle Knoll is the setting for this summer's Opera Under The Stars, Friday, August 4th at 7:00pm. Come spend a relaxing evening bathed in lovely music while the stars come out. For more information call 345-3531. Don't miss the an exciting piece of history re-enacted at the Three Island Crossing, Friday, August 11th thru Saturday, August 12th in Glenns Ferry at Three Island State Park. Trail wagons crossing the Snake River is a must see! Admission is $5 for adults and campsites are still available! For more details call 366-7345. An Idaho favorite, the Caldwell Night Rodeo rolls into town August 15th and will be staying until Saturday, August 19th. The Caldwell Night Rodeo is a world famous and nationally ranked event and is a major stop on the pro rodeo circuit. Something you definitely won't want to miss. The Western Idaho Fair hits the Treasure Valley on Friday, August 18th and will run thru Sunday, August 27th. The Western Idaho Fair is a wonderful family event, complete with a carnival, tons of exhibits, animals and of course, yummy food! Nothing says summer like an American past-time like BASEBALL! Come out and support our favorite hometown team, the Boise Hawks! The Hawks play at home July 30th thru August 1st against Salem-Keizer. They are back again to play Spokane August 8th, 9th and 10th. They will return again to battle Everett the 11th thru the 15th and you can catch them in action for one last round in August on the 29th thru the 31st against Spokane. Economic Outlook

A favorable climate, low unemployment, good jobs, abundant recreation opportunity and a relatively low cost of living are just some of the factors that contributed to Boise's #7 ranking on Money Magazine's 10 best places to live. Growth and vitality are certainly evident this summer. Oceanic Container Line recently opened a regional office in Boise and business is looking good. One of the fastest growing communities within the Treasure Valley, Eagle will see more development. St. Alphonsus is nearing completion of their new Health Plaza, which will be found in the mixed use development, Eagle River. With this addition, Eagle will now be able to keep pace with demanding health care needs of its residents. In addition to a new health plaza, Eagle will also see a new restaurant. Bella Aguilla, an Italian Eatery will soon be found adjacent to SixOneSix in the Rocky Mountain Business Center. The city of Caldwell will soon see a new alternative energy Ethanol plant located at the former Simplot Waste Water Treatment plant, this new facility will bring 50 new jobs to the area! Wow, what an exciting summer in Boise!
